Mycoplasma/Ureaplasma hominis Culture

Collect: UTM (Container Viral, Chlamydia, or Mycoplasma culture transport transport medium) OR Random Urine.
Specimen Preparation: Standard procedures for collecting samples. Indicate specimen source.
- Male: Collect urethral specimen on viral culture swab
- Female: Collect vaginal and urethral specimens with viral culture collection swab
- Urine: Collect specimen in sterile, leakproof container.
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated
Stability: Refrigerated: 72 hours
Causes for Rejection: Bacterial swab specimen; specimen received in grossly leaking transport container; dry specimen; specimen received in expired transport media or incorrect transport device; inappropriate specimen transport conditions; specimen received after prolonged delay in transport ; specimen stored or transported at room temperature
