Collect: Plain Red OR Serum Separator Tube (SST) OR Lavender (EDTA) - 1 ml serum or plasma.
Specimen Preparation: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature . Centrifuge specimen. Separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection. Transfer serum or plasma to a Standard Transport Tube. Label plainly as a.m. or p.m. collection.
Storage/Transport Temperature: FROZEN
Unacceptable Conditions: Specimens collected in plasma separator tubes containing heparin. Grossly hemolyzed or heparinized specimens.
Stability: After separation from cells: Refrigerated: 5 days; Frozen: 1 month
