HIV-1 (Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1) Antibody by CIA with Reflex to HIV-1 Antibody Confirmation by Western Blot
|Methodology:||Qualitative Chemiluminescent Immunoassay/Qualitative Western Blot|
Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) OR Lavender (EDTA) - 1 ml serum or plasma.
Specimen Preparation: Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer plasma to a Standard Transport Tube.
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.
Unacceptable Conditions: Heat-inactivated, severely hemolyzed, or lipemic specimens.
Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: Indefinitely (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles).
